Microsoft to Launch Windows Phone 7 and in Indian Market

Microsoft plans to launch its Windows Phone 7 and search engine Bing in the Indian market this year, as per a report. Microsoft India development centre has fine-tuned the innovative applications of Bing for its launch in India.

Amit Chatterjee, managing director of Microsoft India Development Centre (MSIDC) said

“Windows Phone 7 will be launched in a few months but the date has not yet been decided. A number of products are to suit the demands of a billion satisfied customers all around the world. We are making all efforts to give them a brand new visual experience. device allows Microsoft to bring together its assets like Office, Explorer and search engine Bing. The applications range from simple to those with more work flow.”

He did not agree that Windows Phone 7 already launched abroad is heavy and slow.

Windows Phone 7 has already been launched in the US and other countries with its global partner HTC. Windows Phone 7 and Bing are two of the focus areas of MSIDC.

What is Search Engine Optimization

People refer to Search Engine Optimization (SEO), like it’s a golden set of actions that always have to be applied in order to reach a good ranking in the Search Engines. SEO is that common these days that all large websites hire their own SEO experts to optimize their websites and help them get more and more keywords in which they appear at the top in search engine results. On the other hand creating a new website without knowing anything about SEO you stand little chance of hitting any keyword what so ever instead you are more likely to sit in the 10^th page of Google wondering what went wrong.

Quite often you will hear people complaining about people who perform SEO that they are cheating the results. My opinion on the matter is this: “It’s not cheating if everyone else is doing it”.

In my Hubpages and SEO Part 2 hub I’ve explained how hubpages optimize their website for faster indexing by Google amd get better results by performing “inpage” SEO, along with what you can do to take advantage of the techniques applied by Hubpages.

SEO despite what you may believe is extremely easy, yet time consuming and painstakingly annoying to set up the first time where you know nothing about it. I’ve found that the hard way when I developed my Top Rated Books website with a friend. I started out by developing a website which wanted to take the keywords “Top Rated Books”, “Top Rated Action Books”, “Top Rated Biography Books” etc yet after a week after I created the website and on the third version of the website I was ranking way down on the 9^th page of Google wondering why that was. The “Inpage” SEO that I thought I’ve done was completely wrong and immediately (a few days) after I fixed that my website jumped 4 pages up.

Reading through articles all over the web I knew from the beginning that backlinks to your website where the most important “outpage” SEO part you could do. I’ve found out the hard way however that backlinks must not be made too early other Google will ignore them. This was a painstaking conclusion since a few days after I developed my website I’ve spent 2 days learning one of the most powerful SEO software SEnuke and applying those techniques to my website although it wasn’t indexed by Google and the “inpage” SEO was wrong.

Since I could not afford this software and was only running a trial version, when I’ve fixed the “inpage” SEO of my website I’ve started using manual techniques and using free software (some mentioned in my Hubpages and SEO part 1 hub) to my website and after a few days I saw my website jumping page after page in Google until reaching the second page and then the first page in my most desired keyword “Top Rated Books”. Now with my website safely ranking at the 5^th position in Google I am still performing other techniques trying to get my website to the desired first 3 positions which might make all the difference for that website.

The point of my story is that the point of SEO is to separate the professionals from the amateurs. An amateur like myself is going to spent a month for their first website (especially if it’s a competitive keyword like mine) and only after they fix and tweak their website along the way they can reach the top. You may think it’s not fair when you create your first website and have to learn these things to reach the top, but once you reach the top for one website the others are easy to follow.

If you are only looking into applying the techniques to boost your hubs then you are in luck as you need to do only the “outpage” SEO since the “inpage” SEO is already done so well by hubpages that you can reach easily the first pages of Google in most keywords without doing anything.

Google: Desktops Will Be Irrelevant in Three Years’ Time

Speaking at the Digital Landscapes conference at UCD, European director of Google’s online sales John Herlihy said that Google is mostly oriented towards mobile devices, claiming they’ll become more important than desktop PCs.
“In three years time, desktops will be irrelevant. In Japan, most research is done today on smart phones, not PCs,” he said.
True, with Android (Android) and Nexus One Google has shown a commitment to extend its dominance from the online world to the mobile world. But will desktop PCs really become irrelevant? Depends on how you look at it. Google (Google) isn’t really interested in how we edit our photos; it’s interested in where we store them, and increasingly, we do that at a place is a part of their domain – the cloud.
And if your data moves to the cloud, and most of your daily online activities are done on devices such as the Nexus One and the iPad, where simple, widget-style applications cater to your precise needs, then yes, desktop PCs as we know them now will become a lot less important.

India overtakes US as biggest virus producer

India has overtaken the US as the single biggest producer of viruses, according to analysis of internet threats by Network Box.

India is now responsible for 13.74 per cent of the world’s viruses, up from 9.5 per cent in July 2010. Russia is the next in line, producing just over 11 per cent of viruses - a jump from last month’s 4.01 per cent.The U.S. accounts for just over eight per cent, a significant decrease from 14.65 per cent in July 2010.

Virus levels from the UK have dropped to 2.5 per cent; down from five per cent. The UK is now the seventh-largest threat producing country in the world (down from fourth in July).

The highest number of firewall blocks come from the U.S. (18.3 per cent) and Korea (13 per cent). Simon Heron, internet security analyst for Network Box, says: “It is interesting to see that UDP:137 (NetBIOS’ name service) was the second most attacked port. It is obviously worth users and businesses checking their firewall rules as these figures indicate that there must still be systems out there with this port open to the internet. Also, it would appear that web proxies are also worth probing as TCP:8080 was third in the list, which suggests that hackers see this as another backdoor.”

Heron continues: “The country sources of these internet threats shifts each month, which shows how quickly internet criminals can move their operations round the world and launch attacks. Businesses need to be vigilant and ensure they are not opening up the back door to a hacker when they use new applications or technologies. From this month’s statistics, it would appear that proxies are seen as vulnerable.”

Google launched a brand new online book store called the Google eBooks, which offers ebooks in a wide range of categories. The eBooks store is currently available only in US and by early 2011, the service is expected to be available for the international community.

Gaikai CEO says streaming PC game service will launch in about 60 days

While the OnLive streaming PC game service has been on and, well, live for much of the summer one of its biggest rivals is prepping for its own launch. The Alistdaily.com web site reports claims from Gaikai's CEO Dave Perry that its service will launch in about 60 days.

As we have reported before the "launch" of Gaikai will actually use free game demos with the full game streaming to be made available in 2011. OnLive, however is already streaming a number of full games to its customers. Perry, however, slammed OnLive, claiming that its system of three service centers handling the entire US is "impossible". Perry said Gaikai will launch with 15 servers with plans to increase the amount to 50 servers.

Bharti Airtel's New Logo and Tune Unveiled

Bharti airtel, India’s largest telecom service provider with over 150 million in India itself and total 200-million subscriber worldwide has unveiled a new brand logo to create a shared worldwide vision across its operations in 19 countries in Asia and Africa. Google Wave

Google wave which was thought to be all but extinct after Google ended development on the project, has been given new life, thanks to Apache.

Once considered the e-mail killer, Google Wave (Google Wave) was one of the most-hyped launches of 2009. I’ll be the first to admit that I got swept up by the excitement.

At the time of launch though, I said that Google Wave would either succeed spectacularly or completely bomb. Unfortunately, my latter prediction came true: Google’s (Google) realtime communication tool was a failure. Thus, Google shut the project down, open-sourced the code and released Wave as Wave in a Box.
That was supposed to be the end of the story, but now Google Wave has resurfaced in a new proposal to the Apache Software Foundation. Best known for the Apache server, the ASF is host to more than 100 open source projects. Several people from Google, Novell, SAP and even the U.S. Navy hope to add “Apache Wave” to that list.

The proposal’s three goals are to migrate Wave’s codebase from Google to the ASF’s infrastructure, to get Wave back to a state where development can be continued and to add new committers to the project. While the proposal notes that there is a risk to adopting Wave as an ASF project (it notes that Wave didn’t gain sufficient traction at Google), it also claims that its use by the U.S. Navy and other adopters makes it a worth project.

Apache Wave is still a proposal though; the ASF still has to accept the project. With a well-developed codebase and some big committers, we expect that this project will see the light of day. If it does, Wave will have been given a second life.

Activision: 'Black Ops' grossed $650M in 5 days

Activision Blizzard Inc. said Thursday its blockbuster shooter "Call of Duty: Black Ops" made $650 million in revenue in its first five days on sale, breaking the $550 million record set by its predecessor this time last year.

The video game publisher also said, citing figures from Microsoft Corp., that more than 2.6 million gamers played "Black Ops" on Nov. 9, the day it went on sale, on the Xbox 360.

Sony, meanwhile, said the game is driving "unprecedented traffic" to the PlayStation's online networks as well. "Call of Duty" is also available on PCs, and Activision said last week the game sold about 5.6 million copies in its first 24 hours on sale in North America and the U.K.

Shares of Activision climbed 20 cents to $11.82 in early afternoon trading.

FarmVille Creator To Launch CityVille Soon on Facebook

Zynga, the company behind massively successful Facebook games like FarmVille, FrontierVille or Mafia Wars, is getting ready to launch a brand new game called CityVille, which will see Facebook members start their own cities and take care of them and their inhabitants.

Zynga is ready to expand its social gaming grasp, and revealed that CityVille will be launched "in the following weeks" on Facebook, as well as on its own website, Cityville.com.

The title bears some similarities to other existing games, including SimCity, obviously, another popular Facebook game Social City, and even Zynga's own FarmVille.

The game tasks players with the role of a city planner, and they must construct buildings, from houses to post offices, fire departments, schools, restaurants or shops, on empty plots of lands.

The company didn't detail what tasks players must fulfill, but it seems that food will play a large role in keeping inhabitants happy and your city thriving.


You can even set up farms in CityVille, in order to harvest food, or import goods from other real-life cities like Shanghai, London or Rome.

The social aspect of CityVille will be even larger than in previous Zynga titles, like FarmVille or FrontierVille, as players can set up their own franchises or shops in the cities of their friends, not to mention the fact that you can visit other cities and help them out with clearing land, raising buildings or donate supplies to your friends.

CityVille, like any Facebook game, will offer you the ability to post messages on your wall, and send invitations to your friends in order to have them join in on the fun, thus helping you develop your own city and have the best one around.

Overall, if you're really into Facebook games and you have time left after tending to your crops in FarmVille, your frontier home in FrontierVille or your mob family in MafiaWars, then Zynga's new CityVille is right up your alley.
