Nokia X6 Review

Nokia X6 is a touchscreen smartphone within a compact and square for music lovers, since it provides up to 35 hours of uninterrupted music. Not to mention the 36 GB of internal memory that stores a large number of tracks and more. other specifications of the phone include support for UMTS network, HSDPA, 3.2-inch display with 360×640 pixel resolution, Wi-Fi connectivity, a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash, integrated GPS receiver with Ovi Maps on Symbian OS v9.4 S60 fifth edition, video calling, media player with graphic equalizer, playlists and other advanced features to play music at its best.

As we suspected, the Nokia X6 looks a lot thicker than you would (should) expect from a touchscreen device without physically qwerty keyboard.

This is partly because the device is designed that the top and bottom a little ’slope’ (see pictures below this Artkel), but the X6 is an extremely compact device. This course does not necessarily, but if you look to the first press photos that were raised or impressed. In practice, it falls in that area so a bit disappointing.

Which of course the Nokia X6 is a big improvement over many other devices, both Nokia touschreen itself and its competitors is the fact that the X6 is equipped with a so-called capacitive touchscreen. This makes operation and the perception of the Symbian S60 Touch UI much more comfortable and looks, and is all a lot smoother. Switching between menus, applications and browse the photo gallery is all just a little smoother, and smoothing back faster than the N97. You do not so hard to rub on the display. Owners of an iPhone or the Android phones that are already for sale immediately know what I mean.

Another nice detail is that the Nokia X6, like the N97 Mini, failed to provide a camera cover. ;-) For perhaps the thinking in damage (other than the now infamous cover) to prevent the camera from Nokia has the X6 slightly sunken in the back. Not much (no milimeter I estimate) but just enough to lay down and scratches on tables to avoid sliding. Of course that does not help against small keys and money in bags and (trousers) bags, but a touchscreen device you always in my one (hip) storage bag. Hopefully Nokia will soon be a standard protective bag or case in which is one of the drawbacks of the N97. That is not supplied. Buy yourself? Of course, but devices from 500 + Euro may (read: should) that I think is standard in the box.

Nokia 5250 Review

The Nokia 5250 emerged as a leaked entry-level smartphone and possible replacement to the Nokia 5230 has officially been launched by Nokia. This 2.8-inch touchscreen device comes at a bargain price and will also be offered with an Ovi Music Unlimited variant. Read on to find out all about the Nokia 5250 smartphone…

The Nokia 5250 is set to take the place of the Nokia 5230 as the budget users’ favourite touchscreen smartphone, as this Symbian S60 5th Edition device has officially been announced.

As the leaked images suggested, the Nokia 5250 takes its look more from the Nokia X6 than it does the Nokia 5800 with a slightly more angular look. With quite a wide bezel around the display, you’ll find the screen is a 2.8-inch display with 640 x 360 pixel resolution.

The Nokia 5250 comes with 512MB of internal memory, which means you’ll be able to fit all your favourite apps on-board, while the microSD slot allows you to add up to 16GB of storage, so you’ll easily be able to make the most of the Nokia 5250’s music centric features.

Making sure you get the most from the Nokia 5250, it seems Ovi Music Unlimited variants will be offered where the service is active, so here’s hoping for a UK version. There is also an FM Radio built-in for those who like to rock it old-school. Staying in touch with the music theme, Nokia will also be bundling a copy of Guitar Hero 5 Mobile with the Nokia 5250 so you can put your finger-picking dexterity to test on the touchscreen display.

You won’t find 3G packed in, offering GSM/GPRS and EDGE communications and what’s more the camera is a basic 2-Megapixel snapper. However, you will be able to make the most of the Ovi Store and all Ovi services on the Nokia 5250, including Ovi Mail, as well as social media sites Twitter and Facebook.

The Nokia 5250 will be launched before the end of the year and has a suggested price of around 115 Euros, which should place it firmly in the sub-£100 category. What do you think, fancy a slice of entry-level handheld? Let us know what you think of the Nokia 5250 in the Comments below.

Nokia N8 review

If you are a Symbian or Nokia S60 fan, your day has come. The Nokia N8 is the best Symbian device to have ever been sold. It has a great hardware design, good software capabilities, and the most usable touch interface ever offered on Symbian, thanks to the phone's new Symbian^3 smartphone operating system.

Highlights of the phone include a stellar 12 megapixel camera with xenon flash and 720p HD video recording capability, a good music player with both FM receiver and transmitter capabilities, an improved home screen, and messaging support that finally offers threaded text messaging.

The phone has its downsides, though, like a weak browser that Nokia has promised it will replace in a future firmware update. While the camera on the N8 feels very, very fast, other aspects of the phone sometimes seem to drag a bit, and I found the touchscreen to be less accurate than what the competition offers.

Overall, it's a great device for Symbian fans, and the beautiful hardware and color options will appeal to many, but I don't think current users of competing smartphone platforms will find it very welcoming.
