Ovi store game Marble Maze Speed review

Some Ovi Store games have in the past made us lose our marbles, but if they’re anything like Marble Maze Speed, we’d rather keep ours. Marble Maze Speed is a fun (and free) game where you have to guide a marble to a goal using the accelerometer skills of your Nokia handset. It’s well worth a look. Read our Marble Maze Speed review to discover why.

A while back we reviewed a game called Marble Maze Classic. Now it appears that Marble Maze Classic has a new offspring, in Marble Maze Speed. This newest version, now available for free on the Ovi Store has an added emphasis on speed. Who’d have guessed?

As usual, the game is easy to play, and such a joy thanks to the accelerometer skills of a compatible Nokia device. We used a Nokia N97. The aim is to guide a ball around an obstacle course dotted with pits and walled off sections. You do this by literally titling your Nok from side to side as gently as possible in order to avoid the ball-shaped pits.

The new feature here is the addition of speed plates, which are basically treadmills that steer your ball quickly, often in the opposite direction to where you need it to go. What a great addition they are, adding a new challenge to Marble Maze. Earlier levels aren’t too taxing but later levels are much trickier, but are never too frustrating thanks to the fun and effortless controls. As before you can also make your own levels by entering a blank grid and adding walls, pits, speed plates and a goal, so there’s plenty to keep gamers occupied.

Just like Marble Maze Classic, Marble Maze Speed comes highly recommended, especially for a game costing absolutely nothing. The new emphasis on speed combines to add a new challenge to an already fun title well worth a download.
